Birthday Wishes and Valentine Kisses

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I've been through a whorl-wind of a month and haven't had much time for blogging. Since I finished my last sewing project, I've begun a quilt. It has a sort of All-American feel about it. I won't elaborate on it just yet, but I will promise to post pictures (soon) of my progress so far!

Today, I wanted to share 4 cards that I made last night. I'm usually not in the "creative" mood and thus a simple card can take me well over an hour to make, but I made all four of these rather quickly. The happy birthday card is for my Grandmother - who turns 80 this weekend. I decided to paper piece a birthday cake together using a pattern from the scrapbooks etc website. I loved being able to combine fun and funky patterns to create this whimsical birthday cake! Oh and fyi...this is the first time I have ever used my sewing machine to stitch the edges of a card and I love it (even if it is a bit sloppy)!

The other 3 cards are Valentines. The umbrella card was made using the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge, while the hot-air balloon and cookie sheet cards were made using patterns from scrapbooks etc. Let me know which one is your favorite!

I also wanted to ask what you all think of the new picture backgrounds and lighting. I found a new spot in the house to take pictures and I'm quite pleased with how natural the lighting turned out. Do you like the patterned backgrounds or should I stick to white? I would be interested to see what you all think!
